Riding History
I started riding when I was about five years old. My first dirtbike was a Suzuki JR50. I never raced this bike, just rode it around the house. I rode that bike until I was in third grade. My next bike was a 1988 YZ80 Yamaha. When I first got it the bike was a little to big for me and I didn't ride it much. After a while I got used to it and began to ride a lot. In 1993 I went to race at D&K Dirt Drags and needless to say I got whipped. In 1994 I practiced with my dad, Erek Gallaher, and got a lot better. That year I won the 80cc points championship at D&K. Fall of 1994 my dad purchased a 1992 Honda CR250. I raced it the last race of the year and got beat of course. The CR250 motor was shipped to FMF for port and polish work and the bike recieved FMF exhaust. The wicked motor and my wieght of about 125 pounds made me hard to beat in 1995. That year Big Dumby Racing Team, my dad and myself, dominated taking the 80cc, 125cc, 250cc, and Stock Dirtbike class championships. This was also the last year D&K held points championships. Also in 1995 I tried motocros with the help of Darrel Jones, owner of D&K Dirt Drags. The night before my first mx race the clutch cable broke on my YZ80 so I had to race the 250. On the motocross track the 250's massive power worked against me because I was to small and weak to handle it. I finished second . . . from last. In 1996 I went to a 1994 Honda CR125R. I didn't do well or bad that year, usually somewhere midpack in the 125D class. In 1997 dad got me a brand new 1997 CR125R. Things clicked very well that year and I did very well winning nine races in the 125D class. I also started running the number 72 which I have run on every bike I have owned since. There was no points championship in the D classes but I did manage to get third place overall in the Unlimited CD class. In 1998 I rode a 98 Honda CR250 which was my first aluminum frame CR, the 97 CR125 still had the steel frame. I struggled in 1998 because of jumping to a bigger bike and faster class. I had consistent finishes however and had a chance at the 250C class championship until I broke my ankle and fractured my leg in a crash. 1999 I rode a 99 CR250 to the 250C and Unlimited CD championships. I think I won about four overalls that year. In 2000 I raced the 99 CR250 again in the 250C. My last year of racing was 2001 aboard a 2001 CR250R in the 250B class. I still race dirt drags off and on aboard the 01 CR.
